What I understand now is that it's really easy to be a thief/criminal when your law enforcement personnel are lazy, incompetent, and apathetic. Dealing with the police was a mind blowing experience for me. I would have fired them all been before noon their first day on the job.

Doesn't sound like the cops fault to me!! Sounds like its YOUR fault for leaving all your stuff there.
Ya gotta wonder why they're so hard to deal with, what they deal with on a daily basis.
Guy comes in and he's like "my trailer's stolen!" They ask where you last saw it, "well I left it with all my equipment I need to run my business, thousands worth, at a job site unwatched for the night. But I DID use a $15 lock to protect it!"
They look at eachother and roll their eyes...
lesson learned.
Sorry to hear about your stuff though man, that's pretty crummy. My house got ransacked while I was gone on a business trip a couple years back, they took it all. I know that feeling and it sucks. Hope ya pull through it okay.
