The big saws can get pretty nasty, but it's not bad with a carving bar. I use "dime tip" bars, they also make "quarter tip" bars which are a bit bigger. You have to use 1/4 pitch chain with these bars because 3/8 or .325 won't turn that tight. This means changing the drive sprocket. The small nose radius really reduces kickback. I don't use the tip with a regular sprocket nose bar. Here's a pic of a dime tip bar with a US penny on the tip..........
