Hi Aerial, Jim,
Welcome to treeworld

Jim never look back,There is not a person on this board that couldn't do with a dose of hindsite..We all learn as we travel throught life.
Aerial thats a big tree your cuddling,A good place to start seeing how we go about climbing the safest way firstly is now under your nose..in our video section,Then I would recomend to you to buy the Tree climber's companion, There's a lot of great infomation to be learnt there.Leave those ice picks to the ice.
This saying should ring in your mind while your becoming a proficient climber, Low&Slow and always be attached to the tree,I would also suggest you become proficient with a chainsaw on the ground first before climbing and cutting aloft, simply use a hand saw untill you find your balance up there, As the chainsaw excerts other forces on you similier to somone gently pushing you off balance up there, sometimes worse. Simply put not many get a second chance aloft using a saw.Good luck to both of you and welcome.
