Default Re: time for Climbing line

I must have climbed on just about every arborist climbing line out there but that dot mea s**t because it all personal prefrence. We ca give you our opinions and may be some direction but you really need to get a hold of some different ropes and try them with your own set up.

Ok

24 strand

Advantages:
Light weight
Very smooth rope on prussic feel
Good for self tailing hitches
Not generally as stretchy as 16 strand
Good with mechanical devices

Disadvantages:
Possibly harder to grip*
Harder on your hands*
Chews prussic slightly quicker
IMO harder to splice
Some different brands bunch slightly when new

16 strand

Advantages:
Easy to grip due to larger diameter
Good for larger diameter prussics and 3 strand prussics

Disadvantages:
Heavy
Bulky knots
Fluffs up excessivly when used
Like a spunge when wet

If your a big bloke stick with the 13.5 16 strand, samson is easier to grip than fire i think.

The softest 24 strand is blaze, it runs real well and reacts well with all prussics.

Best of luck mate
