The new piped port gives the saw a nice deep throaty note, Yes it is louder. And of course with more power comes slightly higher fuel consumption, but also more lubrication and lower operating temperatures.

Yes Eric that is correct.
As you hold the saw in front of you in bucking position, the hot gas exits to the left and forward of the handle. Yes, I could pipe the exhaust any way you like, and I could also lengthen the pipe and run a support to another part of the saw to protect the cylinder from stress.
