How i retrieve my rope guide...Basic as ya can get, exactly enough tape on the throat of the splice, also protects the whipping.
Hey Jtrouse, the only thing im not really fond of there on ya rope guide is the ring above the prussic. In the very unlikely chance the ring was pulled down, it could release your prussic, like i say though very unlikely. I do see you have a stopper knot there too, so pretty much impossible.
What about this;
If my system was like that i would get like a length of 2mm dynema hollow braid or something, splice the shackle onto the dynema and with this, tie a prussic above your ropeguide prussic where you have the ring. Exactly the same result and looks pretty. I havent tried it my self but may be something to give a go...
