So I gave the local Husky dealer a go. He fitted a new oil pump another $212. It (stihl) pumps no oil. any help out there, or does someone need a small (expensive) boat anchor? Alan.
First off inorder for it not to work you either would have to have recieved 2 defective pumps[unlikely but a possibility]or the gear on the cranks has been ground off[once again unlikely but a possibility].Some older saws also had a little piece on the end of the nut that holds the clutch down that powered the oiler. Some pics of the clucth side of the saw with the bar, chain, and clutch cover removed would help so i can identify your problem, also drain the oil tank and spra some carb cleaner through the oil tube that supplies oil to the bar and see if that cleans it out if there is any blockage.Clean the bar groove and entire area around the clutch as well.Hope that helps.
