I noticed that was a huayuche, but did not notice that it was stuck. I love those tools; i give mine a lot of rough use and have not broken it yet.
had a treehouse in the tamarind tree when i lived in key west--also had one in a sapodilla tree on another lot. Hey, real estate is tight there, and i was very poor, coming off 6 months rehabbing.
my tamarind recipe was to puree the pulp with lime and honey and molasses as you suggest and other goodies and sell fruit-ade to the tourists at sunset on mallory pier, along with cookies made from coconut and other local tree food and tropical herbs.
Healthy as all getout, and made a good buck at it.

It was your basic hunter-gatherer existence; of course expenses are low when you live in a tree and have no kids...
