I'm slightly allergic to used climbing gear. Buy new gear, I allways say. Don't go cheap when it comes to tools whom are meant as a primary support of life itself.
Keep in mind that for instance 1 small drop of sulphuric acid is not visible in any way on a climbing line, but it can reduce the load ratio to about 5 percent of the normal MBS. Pretty heavy stuff for gear that you will have to trust.

or the gear could be jinxed....
