Those who have a 390xp mostly report that it is a very good saw. I understand that it really shines in the anti-vibe department.
The 395 has more power, but it is a much older and heavier design. It has an outboard clutch and usually a front chain tensioner, but lots of people love it anyway!
Both should have no problem whatsoever with a 30" bar.
