He was quite simply unique...he put the ladders up, he would take the ladders down, well along with an offsider..to see him climb to the top of the chimney with the big overhang I got tired just sitting there! How he could do it day in day out no ppe no tie in at all...let go and well as he says half a day with the undertaker!!!
There are not many people like Fred around anymore (and no I don't mean that they fall off whatever to their death!!!) but I have been lucky enough to bump into a few and tried my best to learn something of their simple appreciation of life and the world around them....watch some of the other vids and you'll see what I'm getting at
