Default Re: LANDLINE story, work in Qld, Nth NSW

Jacobs Well burns the wood, however the tips have/are installing methane gas collectors as fuel for electricity generation.

The Jacobs Well one is part of the sugar mill and the by products of cane including molasses can be burnt to generate electricity. They have hi-tech smoke filters making it clean. Sometimes at the tips they dont even mulch it anymore and load it into huge trucks and take it down to Jacobs Well ... other times they mulch it then take it, depends who the contractor is.

Then at the Jacobs Well site they let it dry out some more. Apparently the furnace is really hot, like a blast furnace so everything burns including palms.

Also, if you are ever working the area check this out, last time was $5/tonne to dump there. And you'll occassionally see large trucks loaded with crap like palms head down there to dump ... wasn't worth the petrol or time with my little truck but if you had a big semi full of cocos by all means.

I do know they have some money troubles, not sure how but it has a number of times made the media and almost got shut down as was expensive to run it or something, or perhaps not enough cane fuel for it as cane farms close?
