Yeah, you know how it is Eric, so much to cram in its easy to forget about the knots.
The reduction was a height issue between neighbours, as were the fellings. The owners weren't affected as the trees were situated right at the end of their garden but the neighbours felt supressed by them etc.....the usual story, you know the one!
