Default Palms and other Protected Plant Species, N.S.W. Australia

I have created this thread due to the strong anti-palm opinion through the forum threads.
It is intended to clarify that NOT ALL PALMS ARE EVIL ... in fact some are protected under N.S.W. DEC legislation, which has existed since 1974.
National Parks and Wildlife Act 1974 No 80 - Schedule 13 Protected Native Plants

The two species of interest are Archontophoenix cunninghamaina - Bangalow Palm, and Livistona australis - Cabbage Palm.
All southern Sydney and South Coast Councils adhere protection to BOTH palm species.

Beware ...
To the untrained eye Livistona australis could be confused for Washingtonia sp.
Archontophoenix cunninghamiana is similar to A. alexandrae ... and again requires a trained eye to differentiate the two.
Also note Cordyline stricta is on the list.
