I've stump ground messes like that before, and also hacked them to pieces with picks, pressure washers etc.. (the hard way).
Seems that getting a strong crane and a dump truck would be the perfect way to go if enough trunk was left on.
Pull it loose and out, then fill the hole with soil. |
