Thought I'd share the story of my current avatar "Shaggs Shed".
My father in law thought he would carve it out of an old piece of hardwood for me for chrissy
(beats socks n undies).
He roucgsawed the timber, copied the printing from a computer printout then meticulously carved it by hand.
Then whilst sitting round a campfire one night he waited till I was there and THREW IT ON THE FIRE!!!
I'm sure he just wanted to see my face, and it worked.
After burning the whole printed side, he took it off and the next day planed the whole side, leaving the carved and burnt lettering.
A few coats of laquer later and presto!!!
I know he could have just used the oxy or similar, but wouldn't have got the same effect! I'll try and post better pics.
