If only we had those kind of forests here.... I'd be in 'em all day every day....
I saw the vids of the old growth forests. Gerald Beranek is an authority on this field but I can't agree with him on his point of view of felling the old growth trees. Like I said before... felling an old growth redwood is cutting a piece out of history. Respect must be shown for these trees.
I believe it's ridiculous to even assume nature needs us to interveine when it comes to "renewing" the forests. We need nature, not the other way around.

Actually, we need to look from a distance how nature overcomes most problems and learn from it, instead of discussing and argueing how we must help it.
