So last Summer I had these series of 6 takedowns, trees were about a half-hug around, 30-40' each, overhanging a 4-lane street at a 'T' intersection. The company who hired me wwer to pour concrete footers for posts for street lights. They needed me after the footers were dug, but before the concrete truck arrives.

I note that when I arrive, the excavating guys are finishing up, and I asked, "Are you guys leaving?" "No, we're waiting for the concrete truck, due one and a half hours from now.

Perfect

I say with blind assurance, "I'll need all 4 of your guys to help me."

"All right."

and then just for the fun of it I say,

"And most importantly, I'll need you too. Come on over when you all can."

Well I turned, and took off and it was one of the happiest moments, I just got a crew of 5+ a crew chief, and I don't have to pay them!

The best part, though, was that I had just recently gotten the dual-strap felt babies and had put them on the spikes and was going to use them for the first time.

I had gassed and oiled and sharpened the saw before coming over, so I just had to throw on the saddle and then, ooh-oh, la, la, time to put on the new gear! I had been dreaming of these for years, but you see, I use spikes so infrequently that to go delux, just, no real sense in that, really, but for some reason, I decided to treat myself these fat, cushy felt pad and today was their day of devirgination.

Needless to say, we were done before the concrete trucks got there with two dudes on traffic control, two dudes dragging brush, and their boss feeding the chipper.
Ha Ha, hah hahahh hahhah
