That's mainly on the east coast.
Actually, I bought a Chevrolet pickup new in 1988, and put 235,000 miles on it in 12 years, and it never had any rust; and I didn't even have extra under-coating applied.
It's the salt on the roads back east that rusts the vehicles. In Oregon, the salt spray from the ocean causes a little bit more rust for the locals there, but its not very noticeable driving through those towns.
I was thinking about you today when the snow flakes started coming down again this morning (from what you replied about snow in the other topic).
As flakes fell, I had this mental image of you standing out there and the flakes hissing on your skin, the same way that eggs sizzle in a frying pan
