Well, I just know, you cant tell from the ground but you'd soon know if you started climbing and your spikes just went into mush.
Once the head's fallen off you are on race against the clock to get it down ... they rot fast. The outer bark/shell stays in tact looking solid like but inside is just mush.
Check out the monocarpic palm blog, you get some big buggers and the naive wont know what they're up against, experience is the key for this one.
Oh, and it's not really decay, is just dried out as palms are full of water, no heartwood, monocots, big grass! |
