I'd agree with newguy, you can get a lot of info on the guy cutting from the stumps they've left....You can tell if they're forestry trained or not, you can make a very good quess at their natioinality too, different countries tend to have typical styles of cutting for those that have been trained, or at least worked alongside experienced others.

Those stumps do not look like the work of a properly trained faller , but sure there's a lot of supposition in that! There are a fair number of guys who cut for a living that have no idea of how to fall trees safely long term. In 2005 when I got my forestry manual harvesting certs we lost 6 really experienced forestry fallers in 6 months (all died at the stump various causes)
