Re: Favorite saws. Never heard of a 797 here.
My Dad ran a Pioneer, then Stihls and Homelites after his dealer changed to them. He swore by the old Super Whiz. I had a 1050, XL2's and EZ? I think. All were good in their day. had a bad run with Dolmar and Solo here. Dolmars were great for a year or 2, then stared to give problems tha no one seemed able to fix.
Solo 640 went great for a couple of years then shat itself before it's time.
Mostly Stihl and Husky for the last 20 or so years.
Small Poulans for climbing for a while as well, only lasted 6 to 12 months, but were as cheap as dirt then.
I still have 2x 020AV's that I bought in 1077 that still run, but not reliably. The 020T/ MS 200 don't last as long.
Not to forget the Slo Rex. 100cc of pure and unadulterated VIBRATION!
