That is a universal problem and frankly unless there's a fine or regulation for it I think the good guys miss out.

My success rate on converting topping to something else more legitimate is around 50% which means 1 out of 2 people just go right ahead and do it anyway. And I reckon as far as companies/businesses that do it goes it would be 2 out of 3 that wouldn't care and go ahead and do it.

The very sad part is some claim they're certified/qualified arborists.

If the roadside trees are treated that way it makes it even harder for your argument, the more they see it the more correct it is in their eyes.

It's a tough thing for the good guys, and you can end up losing work over it coz they do just get some-one else. You might have a yard load of work but they want 1 tree topped at 30' and you lose the lot.

I was driving around on the north side of Brisbane and went past a larger property where they topped every single tree ... I'm talking many of them on a largish acreage property. The people who did that should be shut down!
