Look I really think this act in NSW is one of the best solutions to an almost intractible problem ie disputes between neighbours, often using trees as an excuse to vent some much deeper resentments.
I was lucky enough to talk to Judy Fakes at length in Adelaide in Sept about the Act, how she feels it is working, where its not, and whether it may for the blue print or a starting point for other states. The quality of the decisions is excellent the fairness and common sense without reproach...the commisioners are experienced people who still have a grasp of what is actually going on in the real world yet retain a passion for trees in the urban forest....One of the best bits of the act is that once persons become envovled in the process they are committed to accepting the outcome favourable or not.
