Default Re: So whadya get up to today.

Snotted a huge myrtle today, it was a significant tree but H.O. had permission to remove as they are demolishing the house and rebuilding.

Not much foliage (only a trailer load) but man did this thing have the biggest trunk.
I reckon we took about 2 1/2 tons of wood away.
(all of it moved by hand)
Very tight confines every bloody twig had to be roped out, what a PIA.
Add to that it was 34 degrees here today.

I knew the trunk was going to be a challenge as i normally only run a 26" bar on my 066, so i went to my local stihl dealer yesterday to look at buying a new 36" bar & chain. As luck would have it he had a s/h bar that was near new.
I picked it up with a new chain for $180.
(I think thats a bargain)

Anyway the 066 made short work of the trunk, but hell was it heavy with that long bar.

Here's yours truly up the tree

and heres a pic of the stump, the trunk basically went straight up to about the level of the gutters.
I forgot to measure the DBH, so use the bar as a guide.

Suffice to say i was glad to get home to a well earned Coopers pale ale, and a swim in the pool.
