Yeah Dave, I've heard (only heard) that you can squeeze in a rope size bigger than the manufacturers reccommended and it eliminated the slipping we get when using them for arb work.
Also means you dont have to buy a bigger capstan for the larger ropes, haven't seen for myself though....anyone???
