Maximum rope size according to harken is 9/16 but mostly we use 5/8 it does go in the self tailer but tends to slip a little when winding in, not a problem if the groundie holds the tail,I haven't tried using a drill yet, the only issue with it is that it is very heavy but is worth its weight in gold.
