Pure soap flakes do not hurt or damage modern ropes, but generally my climbing lines only need a clean water rinse, every three or four months they'll need a proper wash or after working on figs, pines, or really badly declining gums (much kino!!!)
You usually find pure soap flakes in the section of washing products for delicate/pure wool garments
