Southern touch, I wash my ropes in a clean tub. I have put a Small bit of degreaser in with the wash to get oil off a lowering line. With the clear tub you can see the oil come to the top. Now keeping your rope submerged, tip out the top half of water (oil floats to the top of water). Then IMMEDIATELY rewash your rope with natural soap a couple of times. Even contact the manufacturer of the rope to make sure it doesn't effect performance.
