Never worked on one but they are a very pretty tree...in another lifetime ago I used to see lots of birch trees through the southern parts of the Pennines, they are (in their native habitat) an inidicator or transition species, as bog or marsh land dries out birch are one of the first of the larger terrestial species to colonise the area, in fact it is the gradual colonisation process itself that helos drive the change in relative moisture levels.....pretty tree
