As for the climate in Southeast, it is the largest temperate rainforest on the planet. Some areas receive 300-400 inches a year. You've got to love the rain! It has mild temperatures compared with the Interior. Usually in the 50's.
Wildlife is abundant. Admiralty Island has the largest concentration of Brown Bears (grizzly) in the world. It is normal to see several bear each day, although I've really never had a problem with them. You just have to be alert and have good bear "manners".
