Well I had to go and get one of my climbers from a job site after he didn't spot a huge paperwasp (500mm x 300mm) nest within the tip of a Kauri Pines limb. They cut the limb on the lowering rope and when the branch hit the ground the colony went straight up the trunk and gave my climber a real touch up.
He had his tie in point in a adjacent tree and had do a "rapid swing and descent". I took him to the Doc for a Antihistimine shot to relive the swelling (he was hit over 100 times) hes now resting at home.
I have to be real careful now because i have been stung that many times over the years i now swell extremly badly
Anyone got any "good and safe" control/destruction methods for these little vermin.
