No offence but the 4 questions above do concern me. It's good you asked them but I would say for your first prune/advice get a pro, watch what is done and discuss the why's with them.
On that note here in Brisbane there would be very few "pro's" I'd trust with the task. I see more mutilation jobs than pruning in most cases.
Poinciana's are not forgiving in where you prune them and they are soft wood so decay quickly and easily.
You can search through the forum to find information or you can pay a pro for either doing the job or consulting to tell you what to cut and where ... either way choose smart.
